Gums provide an all-important barrier between the teeth and the bones, providing a seal that prevents bacteria and plaque from entering the body. Brushing and flossing regularly ensures that food particles are removed from in between your teeth. If left, this debris can inflame and infect the gums, leading to gum disease and a wearing away of the protective function of the gums.
Eating is one of the great joys of life. A good meal delights the senses and nourishes us from the inside out. Our teeth are at the front line of eating, helping us to bite down, tear and chew our food.
Issues with the alignment of your teeth can cause difficulty when biting or chewing. The teeth have to endure a great deal of pressure with every bite, and crooked teeth can cause discomfort when biting down due to the irregular distribution of pressure. Uneven teeth can also mean that food isn’t chewed as effectively which can lead to issues with digestion.
