We are following one of our patients, Lauren, as she has Invisalign treatment at Ollie and Darsh. In Part 1 of her Invisalign Diary, Lauren described how she felt arriving at the clinic, what it was like having the aligners fitted for the first time and offered some great tips for taking them out. We have just received an update from Lauren so it’s time for part 2 of her Invisalign Diary. If there is anything mentioned by Lauren in her diary that you would like to know more about or if you have any questions please feel free to contact us or leave a comment below.
So, I’m just about to cross the 8 week mark – that means I’m 20% of the way through my treatment – and it has flown by! Only another 34 weeks to go! I have my first check up with Ollie in two days time and I am really excited to see how much progress has been made. I don’t think my teeth look any different to what they did 8 weeks ago, but they certainly feel very different. Up to now, most of the pressure I’ve felt has been on my back teeth and when I bite down it feels different to what it was like before I started my treatment – so something must be happening!
For the past 8 weeks, all I have talked about is teeth and my aligners! I’m even encouraging other people to get back to the dentist to get their gnashers checked out – not bad for somebody who was petrified of going to the dentist a couple of months ago! I am so proud of myself for making the huge step of getting my aligners that I take every opportunity to talk to people about them – and people are genuinely interested in Invisalign – mainly because it’s so unbelievable that such thin and clear plastic aligners can make such a huge impact on your smile.
Everybody I have spoken to so far has been really supportive of my decision to start Invisalign, and many people have even called me brave, but in all honesty Invisalign is really easy! I have clear aligners that hardly anyone can see with the ability to remove the aligners to eat, drink and brush and I know exactly how long my treatment is and what the end result will be. That keeps me motivated – along with the countdown calendar that I have on my desk in work!
Another thing that has kept me motivated, and this may be one for us girls, is knowing that Cheryl Cole also wore Invisalign when she first joined Girls Aloud, however, her worst beauty habit is forgetting to put her retainer in at night!!! If Invisalign is good enough for Cheryl, it’s good enough for me!
